Dr. Andrea Azurdia is a registered clinical and school psychologist working with children, youth, and their families. Her work focuses on developmental, diagnostic, and psycho-educational assessments. These include assessments for learning disabilities, attention-deficit disorders, autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and giftedness. In her assessments, Dr. Azurdia aims to provide families with an in-depth review of their child’s strengths and needs, along with applicable recommendations to support those needs.
In addition, Dr. Azurdia provides treatment and interventions to children and youth experiencing a variety of mental health and behavioural difficulties including anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and/or depression. She is interested in working with families on intra-family relationships (family therapy) and parenting skills. In her case conceptualization and interventions, Dr. Azurdia implements an integrated and systemic approach. She uses evidence-based treatment protocols tailored to each of her client’s needs, with a focus on client-centered and cognitive-behavioural approaches.
Dr. Azurdia has trained and worked in a variety of multi-disciplinary settings including CHEO’s Mood and Anxiety Team and their Behavioural Neurosciences Consultation and Liaison Team, the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre’s Anxiety Disorders Program, Youth Services Bureau, and currently with the Ottawa-Carleton District School
